Randy Pausch

February 25, 2008

Take a few minutes to watch this video. If you’re not moved by it, or at least a little inspired by it, then maybe you should take a few minutes to re-evaluate who you are. Just sayin’….  Thanks CC for passing this along, and thanks to Miller Jones for passing it along to him.

One Hip Little Dude

February 23, 2008

Hey All. Been a quick minute– seems to be a trend with me. Anyhow, everything on this end is absolutely splendid. Loving the new digs, new job, new scenery, etc. Been working a lot, but it’s definitely stuff I want to be spending my time doing!  More on that later– maybe. On a completely unrelated note, this little dude is super on point. Check him out below singing Hey Jude. His little accent is priceless…

…tomorrow at 8am. Yep, I’m getting all four of my wisdom teeth removed, and I just found out about it 6 hours ago.

Came home for a long weekend, and my mom had booked me for a consultation with an oral surgeon– lucky (or unlucky) for me they had an opening tomorrow at 8am. I’m opting for full anesthesia, so I can’t feel, see or hear anything. Should be interesting… So be nice to me if I’m still all swollen and puffy when I return to the 206!

Anti-Groping Cellphone App.

October 26, 2007

Wow. You read the title correctly. The 7th most downloaded cellphone application in Japan these days is an anti-groping app that allows women to send messages to male gropers on trains. The “Anti-Groping Appli” was created back in 2005 by games developer Takahashi and has recently jumped in downloads. I’ve been told this is a big issue over there– although I didn’t personally experience it. But wow, the fact that it’s prevalent enough for an application to be created– and actually downloaded, is a little nutty. And the messages; let’s face it, are hilarious. It’s funny to me to think that showing someone a text message on a train ANYWHERE in the world might actually deter them from doing anything. That would never work in the states. Apparently, instituting all female train cars in Japan wasn’t quite enough to alleviate this ridiculous problem. Bizarre. Read the full story over at ABC.com.

Polka Tattoo Furniture

October 26, 2007

Stumbled on this Tattoo Furniture, by Polka, and thought it was a cool (or maybe just novel) idea. For those of us who aren’t big into getting ink, but appreciate the artistry and skill that goes into it– here’s a solution. Contact Polka with your custom tattoo design, and they’ll have international artist Gert Kowarzik make you some tatt’ed furniture for your house. They don’t run cheap, but it’s still a cool concept.

A Real Unicorn

October 23, 2007

So awhile back I was posting about my favorite search engine terms that led people to my blog. Well today I got a real doozy of a search term. Someone searched for “A Real Unicorn” and found my site. How adorable. But on a serious note– aren’t we all just searching for a real unicorn in some, way, shape or form? Think it over.

Team Savory 2.0

October 23, 2007

So, Salts and I decided that if we were to have a kid together (or even a hampster or small animal) that we would have to name it….. wait for it….

“Fresh Salty P-Nuts”…. yep. Saltbags on caffeine and Fresh P in her normal state can have some amazingly insightful and inspiring AIM sessions. Genius. Enjoy your Tuesday.

Drumroll, please….

October 12, 2007

This guy just won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Uh huh. Read the story here.

Daft Punk Hands

October 12, 2007

This guy is ridiculous. This video is kind of old news by now, but I still think it’s amazing. It starts getting good about 1:30 in, and gets really amazing at about 2:50. Watch the whole thing, it’s worth it.

My new e-mail box…

July 30, 2007

… so another huge highlight of my trip back home was the purchase of a new laptop. I’ve been using a sweet little Macbook for the last year, but because it was my work computer I have to give it back. womp womp. But that’s ok, cause I majorly upgraded and scooped a 2.4 GHZ MacbookPro, bitches.  Shit is on point, and everyone loves new toys. Now I’ll never leave my house…

A weekend in the PDX

July 30, 2007

I spent last weekend in PDX chilling with the family and some homies just bumming around and sleeping a lot. I hadn’t been home since before Spring break, so the moms was pretty happy I came home– and I was equally happy when she offered to cook, clean and do my laundry for me. haha. Some highlights included spending some time downtown bumming around, watching movies with my mom, going to a ghetto breakfast at Ihop with my folks, and spending a night at Oscars playing shuffleboard with the boys– James, Dubbs, Kevin & Tiger Woods, haha. It was pretty relaxing, and although I didn’t blog as much as I’d hoped (I didn’t blog at all) I did get a lot of letter-writing done.

Kicked out…

July 24, 2007

So I’m subletting a place for the summer, and today our landlord is showing our place. Unfortunately for me, I’m illegally subletting so I had to get the hell out of my apartment at 10 this morning, after waking up at 8 to clean my room. Lame. So now I’m here at Zoka down in the Udistrict, using free wifi to blog, surf the internets, while also doing some letter writing…  then I’m gonna go back home, and start getting ready to go to work… what an exciting day.

Now, I’ve posted before about how I love this whole “High Fashion for the Masses” trend that’s going on right now– and I still do love it. BUT, I hate it when foreign countries get better access to cooler shit than we get in the states. Case and point– Australia’s Targets having Stella McCartney as part of their GO international line. Rubbish, I tell you! This was back in March that Target Australia launched a line with Stella, but all I’m asking is that you bring her to the US! Please?! Even if she did another line with H&M I’d be semi-satisfied. Here’s a look at some of the beautiful designs that I can only get on ebay….<sigh>

As a sidenote, I just switched perfumes to McCartney’s “Stella in Two Peony,” and it’s amazing. I love it.

Everyone loves getting snail-mail (almost as much as I love that stellar clipart picture I snagged for this post), but it hardly ever happens anymore. What happened to the good ole days when people wrote eachother letters, and had personal and hard-copy mementos of their sentiments?! No one can deny that everytime you open the mailbox and there’s a real letter in there it’s like a tiny little paper present, am I right?! Awhile back I stumbled on this project called “The Letter Project.” Basically it’s this guy, Rick Schrager, who will write anyone and everyone a letter that requests it. I thought this was pretty dope, and promptly put in my letter request. Even though I haven’t received my letter yet, I was thinking about it today, and decided that I want to help bring back letter writing too. In this world of text messaging, e-mail and social networking sites, it’s really easy to just use virtual and digital correspondence. But that kind of sucks. It takes the personal flare out of it, and it makes it way too easy. SO, with that being said, I’ve got a whole lot of unused stationary and a whole bunch of stamps. So if you send me your address in the comments section, I’ll do MY best at writing you a letter. (Don’t worry, I can moderate my comments so leave your address, I’ll get it and then delete it so creepsters don’t get your mailing address). And to all my friends out there, expect that I’ll be asking you for your shit cause I’m about to bombard your mailboxes (the ones in real life) with some good ole, handwritten, love notes from the heart. I can already tell you’re excited!
