Goodbye Seattle!
February 2, 2008
Thank you to everyone who made it out for my going-away get together at 611 last Saturday! It was great to see all of you under the same roof– very reminiscent of summertime. And wonderful to see your faces one last time before I migrated South for the winter. Here are a few flicks from the night, courtesy of Salts’ flickr page. I’ll miss all of you, but anxiously await your visits to the beautiful Bay area!

Mary Jean Null-Boulé, 1928-2007
A few posts back I blogged about my cousin Emily’s wedding. About two weeks after our family got together for the wedding, we found ourselves back together again–but this time to celebrate the life of my grandmother; Mary Jean Null-Boulé.
It’s hard for me to express with words the significance of my “Ma.” I don’t feel like anything I could ever write would be strong or poignant enough to do her memory any justice- nor would it feel appropriate to attempt a eulogy of sorts through a blog entry. But I felt like I needed to at least post something about her passing because it was a very significant loss for me, and has been on my mind a great deal.
My “Ma” was truly an extraordinary woman who meant so much to me and our entire family. A matriarch, in the truest sense of the word, that brought so much– including the special gift of music into my family. For this, I am not only blessed and thankful, but am delighted that it will forever be a part of her legacy. I learned so much from her- about life, love, loss, humility, charity and character. I will forever aspire to live a life as full and with as much spirit. She was a daughter, a mother, a sister, a lover, a musician, an author, a business woman, a teacher, a grandmother, a role-model, a #1 fan and a truly remarkable and wonderful person. Her smile and laugh would light up a room, and her beauty- although humbly dismissed, was captivating and undeniable. I will miss her greatly, but am so very thankful for the 22 years I was able to spend with her. I love you, Ma.

So, Salts and I decided that if we were to have a kid together (or even a hampster or small animal) that we would have to name it….. wait for it….
“Fresh Salty P-Nuts”…. yep. Saltbags on caffeine and Fresh P in her normal state can have some amazingly insightful and inspiring AIM sessions. Genius. Enjoy your Tuesday.
A Wedding

A few weeks back my cousin Emily got married. It was an amazing ceremony and reception, and it was wonderful to see my whole family (my brother even flew in for the ordeal). They had the reception (and most people stayed) at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane– what a place. We had a blast, and Emily & Matt were the happiest I’ve ever seen them. Congratulations to them, and here are some photos I jacked from the photo website. Enjoy!
