San Francisco

January 26, 2008

It’s been well over two months since my last blog (I know, I know) and in that two months a lot has happened in the life of Jenna. Namely a long-term and rather intense interview process, culminating with a great offer and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

So with that being said, I should let you all know (if you don’t know already) that I’ll be leaving Seattle on the 3oth of January and moving to wonderful San Francisco. I’ve accepted an offer with Apple to be a Program Coordinator for their Campus Rep program, and I couldn’t be happier! It’s exactly what I want to be doing with myself right now, and everything so far has fallen together flawlessly! I received my official offer letter/packet a few days back and below are some photos. You have no idea how exciting it is to get a stark white folder in the mail, where the first page just says “Welcome to Apple.” It’s been a long-time coming, and I can’t wait to get down there and start throwing myself into my work! And I look forward to all of your visits, as well!

Life after Apple

June 30, 2007

I hate to post about anything Apple related in light of the CRAZY amount of blog space devoted to the iPhone as of late, but seeing as how today is my last official day as an Apple employee (at least for now) I felt it was appropriate to post something cool about life post-Apple. Everyone knows Apple kills it when it comes to design. Simplistic, clean, intuitive, etc, etc. I found this interesting article about life after Apple for some of their lead designers and it’s really worth reading. Its a quick read, and gives some cool insight into why (according to those who know best) Apple has been able to consistantly produce a beautiful line of products. Check it out over at Business Week.

Virtually Hanging Out

May 22, 2007

Last night a bunch of homies– that could’ve easily hung out in real life, decided to hang out via the internets. It was good times. Here’s a picture of us videochatting about taking pictures, while some of us took pictures of us taking pictures of us videochatting… uhh…. yea, I don’t know…

New Mac Ads…

May 8, 2007

New Mac Ads dropped today and they are pretty stellar. When this ad campaign first started I thought for sure they would run out of things to highlight, but sure enough every commercial they make seems to be another winner. The new ads highlight the lackluster release of Vista & the existence of Genius Bars. Check them out online here. Or watch them below;

A Greener Apple

May 3, 2007

I’m completely bias when it comes to Apple products/brand because I’m already too loyal for my own good, but I was still really happy to read this post by Steve about Apple becomming greener. Just one more reason why I’d give my right arm to continue working for this company. Awhile back I happened on this website by Greenpeace called Green My Apple. It called for Apple fans to put pressure on Apple, Inc. to green their practices. I wouldn’t say the website alone pushed for the change in practices, but whatever it was that spurred the change makes me happy. Now go by some more iPods and rest easy.

I’m a Mac

March 20, 2007

So everyone’s seen the hilarious “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” spots done for Apple by Chiat. Well Apple’s been creating similar themed ads overseas, and they are quite funny. Here’s a random sampling of some of my favorites from the UK and also Japan.

From the UK;

From Japan;

I wouldn’t be doing a very good job if I didn’t also mention that students receive academic pricing on Apple products everyday! Check it out here.

1984

March 20, 2007

This remix of the classic 1984 Apple Commercial has been blowing up on the internet lately- and getting lots of mainstream press. I’m not sure I’m so “wowed” by it, but I suppose it’s interesting enough. Barack’s camp has said they did not produce the commercial but I think I would’ve been more intrigued if they had. If Barack is so revolutionary, and breaks the mold in so many ways (a la 1984) , you’d think he’d be all over “the internets” figuring out ways to start a real conversation with constituents and getting his messages across. Don’t get me wrong, I think Barack has some very compelling attributes and is refreshing in many ways, but it’s still SO early. I’d like to see where the candidates go with this campaign. There are too many issues left to talk about so I reserve the right to wait before making up my mind on this one. I also think that President Bush’s face would fit much better in this rendition than Hillary’s. I understand Barack fans see her as the direct threat to his campaign, but if we’re going for the whole “Vote Different” theme- don’t you think it would mean so much more to juxtapose Barack against George W? Isn’t that what people need to be “rescued” from? I guess the person behind this commercial just wanted to get people talking and has therefore succeeded. It is kind of a cool reminder that each of us can play an active role in the larger conversation- if we wanted to and were creative enough. Just some thoughts. But enough of that, check out the vid;
