You Are Beautiful 2.0
May 30, 2007

So I’ve already posted about You Are Beautiful, but I finally received my sticker set in the mail yesterday so I have to blog it again, and keep you all updated. Check out You Are Beautiful here, to get an idea of what the project’s about. I’d be happy to take suggestions on where I should place these lovely stickers in the 206. I was pleased to find that there were additional stickers included in the pack, including a set of stickers with You Are Beautiful in a bunch of foreign languages. I already have something in the works to take care of those puppies, but feel free to leave a comment suggesting what I should do with the others. The white one that’s almost invisible in this pic, will have a home on my black macbook. Cheers to the good folks at You Are Beautiful.
Yet Another May Birthday…
May 30, 2007

That’s right, another May Baby is celebrating birth today and we’d like to wish Mr. JR Ewing of Seattle a super Happy Birfday! You know he’ll be keeping it real peddy today. L3SO style. So all hot underage females head over to Winner’s Circle and buy some gear– he’ll be waiting for you. If you see this guy give him a hug and buy him a drink. And come out to this show at Neumo’s where he’ll be celebrating. And just in case you were worried that JR was trying to kidnap me in this picture, notice the behind-the-back peace sign… it’s all jokes, folks.
Invisible Shield
May 28, 2007

The newest craze in gadgetry, is to protect your gadgetry. Not really, I just made that up. But this Invisible Shield stuff is the real deal. My bosses at the “tech company I currently work for” have this stuff on all their little gadgets and it’s really quite impressive. Originally designed by the military to protect helicopter blades from being deteriorated by sand and other debris, it’s a clear sticker that you apply over your appliances that makes them virtually indestructable. Well– more like incredibly scratch resistant. You no longer have to worry about scratching your ipod when you shake it in a bag full of nails. They make these stickers in custom cut shapes for just about everything– ipods, cellphones, laptops, pdas, game consoles– you name it. If they don’t have the design you need, they’ll make up a custom sticker for you as well. Check out the demo tape if you’re not convinced- it gets good about half way through. However, if you choose to use this stuff, take your time with the application. It can be tedious, but you don’t want annoying bubbles or crooked applications. There are a million youtube tutorials on how to apply like a pro, so good luck. You can find Invisible Shield here. Oh yea, and it’s got a lifetime warranty– can’t go wrong.
Good Luck Sucka
May 27, 2007
A big good luck goes out to MJB for the chaos that is his life today– you know who you are, and what you’re doing. Thanks for the invite, really wish I could be there! I know all the goods that were “en route” managed to find their way to the right spot. You’ll sleep happy tonight (hopefully) and don’t worry– you’ve only shaved off about 2 years of your life with your valiant efforts to kick ass and take names. Big picture, that’s like nothing. ha. Love you, come home soon.
Robin Rhode
May 27, 2007

This South African street artist is real legit. Dude is known for combining performance art with lo-tech chalk or charcoal drawings on walls or pavement. “Rhode’s interaction renders the flat drawings into 3D pieces, which are captured on film or video. He creates action by trying to get on a chalked bicycle, sit on a bench he has just drawn or break into the line drawing of a car.” The above piece is called Yoyo. The below; Harvest.

I’m real capitvated by this guy’s work. He’ll be showing at Perry Rubenstein Gallery in NYC through June 23 using all three gallery spaces. Check him out if you’re in town, or check out more of his work here.
French Dap
May 27, 2007

Even though it’s not her actual bday today (it’s on Monday folks), I have to give a huge birthday shout to my girl Abbie aka French Dap. She’s one hot mama with some crazy fly steeze, and I’m real glad her mother birthed her all those years ago. If you see her, give her a huge hug and blow her some sweet asian heart kisses. And if she knows you (and likes you) stroll through and show some love at her BBBQ today. Love you girl, Happy Birthday!
I’d rather be blogging…
May 27, 2007
… right now that’s completely true. I’ve got a 10 page joint to write by Tuesday on the most ridic topic around, and I’ve been doing everything I can to avoid it. This silly “report” is the only thing standing between me and my diploma right now and I just can’t get it done. SO, I’d rather be blogging…
Momentum
May 26, 2007
New spot from Nike dropped starring Pau Gasol, Rafael Nadal and Ronaldinho called Momentum. It’s done by Barcelona based Villarrosàs and even though it’s not a W+K spot like most Nike stuff we see– it’s oddly reminiscent of the Freestyle commercials. Thoughts?
It is kind of cool how it’s sort of got that underground Fight Club-esque feel to it though.
Rob & Big

Love these guys, and here’s one more reason why…
At some point I hope to see these fools in real life, how funny would that be?
Phillip Lim for Uniqlo
May 25, 2007
I’m a big fan of Uniqlo. I was first turned on to them during a visit to Japan in 2005 and quickly became an advocate when I was able to cop premium denim for 60 bucks. It wasn’t at all surprising to me that they had plans to break into the U.S. market. They’ve been doing some cool shit lately–including UNIQLO T-shirt (UT) and this collab with designer Phillip Lim. Lim’s line 3.1 launched in 2005 and his designs are asbolutely beautiful made with incredible fabrics, textures and cuts. His line with Uniqlo is no exception– I only wish I lived in a place where I could cop it! Check out some photos below;

Thanks to Faran at Fashionista for the photos! Chris– you know what to cop me from NYC now!
Spike Lee goes Commercial
May 25, 2007
Apparently Spike Lee is now directing commercials– go figure. Check out this ad he directed for New Era;
I think Spike should stick to starring in commercials;
Blake Lewis X Doug E Fresh X Barry B.
May 25, 2007
Yes, this actually happened on American Idol last night…
The jury’s still out for me on this one…
Lip Gloss
May 25, 2007
Where can I get me some of that Lip Gloss?! Lil Mama’s bout to drop a cosmetics line– I’m calling it. This vid is hilarious to me, I don’t even know what to make of it. But I guess it’s better to have a 17 year old rap about her lip gloss than the wide spectrum of other shit she could be rapping about? Enjoy the vid if you haven’t already seen it;
And if you still want more, here’s a better look at the little lady;
Delicious Ambiguity
May 25, 2007

Heard this quote by Gilda Radner from one of my supervisors today. Thought I’d share;
“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing whats going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.”
Slowly embracing the deliciousness of ambiguity– work in progress.
ATYS
May 23, 2007

While bumming around SF I stumbled on this hidden gem of a spot- ATYS. It’s a specialty design shop that carries everything needed for contemporary living– from Alessi watches & kitchenware, to Maly fireplace accessories, Dondolo + Dondolino furniture, to Starck’s Smart Clocks & flameless lighters. This shop is filled to the brim with cool shit you probably don’t need, but will want really bad anyways. Right up my alley. It’s located at 2149 Union in San Fran, but is in the back corner of a hidden courtyard. If you’ll be in town, you really should make the time to check it out and find it. The owner Paul Kerr is the only employee, so he holds it down and might even make you some espresso while you shop. Visit online here. I always talk about wanting to own my own architectural bookstore/design shop– so I’m taking notes from ATYS.
